Seminar on Effective Communication

Communication is a vital element to express one’s feelings/ideas etc. It also satisfies one's needs. It is very important to have effective communication for the growth of personality and also progress in career. In personal life, effective communication skills help in maintaining a healthy relationship between people by making them understand and also understood by others. Support for communication in the context of sustainable development involves promoting dialogue wherein power-holders listen, consider, respect, and imbibe the knowledge and views of the participants.

The Education Committee of Student Nurses’ Association 2022 -23 of 365体育投注 College of Nursing, 365体育投注 has organized a Seminar on the theme "Effective Communication” on 14th October 2022 between 4:00 pm & 5:00 pm as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. Ms. Shilpa Joshi, Student Counselor, Student Affairs, MAHE, 365体育投注 spoke on the topic “Importance of verbal communication”. She briefed on the different ways of verbal communication and strategies to maintain effective communication. With the help of students, she demonstrated common ways of communication. She also highlighted on the barriers to communication and the ways to overcome these barriers.

The next session was delivered by Ms. Prathibha Lydia Braggs, Junior 365体育投注 Fellow, 365体育投注 College of Nursing, MAHE, 365体育投注. She deliberated on “Basic communication skills at the workplace”. She emphasized on the rules for effective communication, essential communication skills, and tips to improve communication. She also discussed miscommunication and ways to avoid them.

The session was conducted at 365体育投注 College of Nursing, MAHE, 365体育投注. A total of 90 students from the third semester BSc Nursing and first year PBBSc Nursing participated in the seminar. Students’ queries were addressed and clarified by the resource persons. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Melin Mathew, Ms. Arpitha Jaison, SNA Education Committee representatives and Mrs. Janet Prameela Dsouza, Ms. Flavia Noronha, SNA Education Committee Advisors.
