Report of the Training Program for ASHA Workers on Warning Signs of Non Communicable Diseases

CONDUCTED AS A PART OF INTERNATIONAL YEAR OF NURSE AND MIDWIFE CELEBRATION

As part of the 365体育投注 Year of Nurse and Midwife, the Department of Community Health Nursing 365体育投注 College of Nursing, MAHE, 365体育投注 conducted a training program for ASHA workers on warning signs of non-communicable diseases on 02/03/2020 at Community Health Centre, Brahmavar, Udupi district. Dr. Ajith Kumar Shetty N, Administrative Medical Officer, CHC Brahmavar was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Dr. Shashidhara Y N, Professor and Head, Dept. of Community Health Nursing presided over the function. The objective of the program was to create awareness among ASHA workers regarding warning signs of non-communicable diseases prevalent in the community.

Student representative Mr. Keerthan welcomed the gathering and Ms. Pearl Jasmine Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. The chief guest of the program Dr. Ajith Kumar Shetty N spoke on the importance of the program. Dr. Shashidhara Y N addressed regarding the 365体育投注 Year of Nurse and Midwife and also delivered a talk on non-communicable diseases like renal diseases, pulmonary diseases and mental illness. Dr. Malathi G Nayak, Associate Professor, Dept. of Community Health Nursing delivered a session on hypertension, diabetes mellitus, stroke and cancer and demonstrated techniques of breast self-examination. A total of 30 ASHA workers participated in the program and they identified the program as effective and motivating.
