Report of the activities conducted as part of the 365体育投注 Day of Midwives (IDM) 2023
1. In-service Education Program:
The faculty of the Department of Obstetric and Gynaecological (OBG) Nursing along with II year MSc nursing students – OBG specialty, 365体育投注 College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, 365体育投注, organized an In-service education program for the staff nurses of Women and Child Health Block, Kasturba Hospital, 365体育投注 based on the 365体育投注 Day of Midwives (IDM) theme “Together again; from evidence-based to reality.” The topic for the in-service education was ‘Real world significance of Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) for the midwife”, which was deliberated by Ms. Shobha, Lecturer, Department of OBG Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注, who spoke a great deal on why EBP is essential for the practice of midwifery. She also elaborated on how EBP in nursing has changed a great deal of midwifery practice and how redundancy in professional practice is and can be reduced to a great extent. Many examples to explain this concept were also provided, which encouraged many nurses and midwives, to participate actively in the discussion that took place at the end of the session. A total of 36 participants, who included the nursing staff, Assistant Nursing Supervisors (ANSs), and the Nursing Quality team of Kasturba Hospital, 365体育投注 attended the In-service education program. Participants provided feedback for the program.
Following the in-service education program, some fun games and activities were held for the staff nurses, who participated very actively in all the games and also expressed that they enjoyed the program. Ms. Sweety Fernandes and Mrs. Pratibha Kamath, Assistant Professors, Dept of OBG Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注 conducted the fun games and activities. Feedback for the session and prizes distribution to all winners of the fund games and activities were done by Dr. Suba Sooria P, Head - Nursing Services, Nursing Section, Kasturba Hospital, and Dr. Sonia R.B D’Souza, Professor and Head, Department of OBG Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注. Mrs. Reena Veneciya D’Souza, II Year MSc nursing student, Department of OBG Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注 welcomed all the participants and compered the program. Dr. Maria Pais, Assistant Professor – Senior scale, Dept of OBG Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注, and the program coordinator – IDM 2023 gave away the vote of thanks.
2. Outreach Programme:
The faculty of the Department of Obstetric and Gynaecological (OBG) Nursing along with II year MSc nursing students – OBG specialty, 365体育投注 College of Nursing (MCON), MAHE, 365体育投注, in collaboration with Rotary Club, Shankarpura also organized an outreach program for the staff nurses, Community Health Officers (CHOs) and Asha workers in Rotary Bhavan, Shankarpura based on the IDM 2023 theme “Together again; from evidence to reality”.
