Report of Seminar on ‘Updates in Health Care Management'

365体育投注 School of Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注, had organized a seminar on ‘Updates in Health Care Management’ on July 16, 2025, from 8.00 am to 12.00 pm for final year DNM students. The chief guest of the program was Dr. Shashidhara Y N. Professor and Head, Department of Community Health Nursing, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注. Dr. Leena Sequira, Principal, MSON, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注, introduced the chief guest and welcomed the gathering. Dr. Judith A. Noronha, Dean, MCON, 365体育投注, addressed the participants on the importance of nursing care. She mainly focused on the 3 C’s – care, compassion, and commitment, and also advised the students to focus on patient care by using knowledge and technology. Dr. Shashidhar Y N addressed the participants on the importance of prevention of communicable and non-communicable diseases by using proper personal hygiene, environmental hygiene, and utilization of community health programmes, and also focused on understanding the purpose of care before delivering to the patient. The first session was on Legal and Ethical Issues in Patient Care by Ms. Prathibha Lydia Braggs, Lecturer, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注. She highlighted the ethical principles and legal responsibilities of a nurse and emphasized common ethical issues in patient care. Ms. Sweety Jousline Fernandes, Assistant Professor, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注, elaborated on Effective Communication in Health Care, which included strategies to improve effective communication and appropriate communication etiquette to be followed while working in a health care setting. Dr. Soumya Christabel, Assistant Professor, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注, explained the Nurse’s role in the administration of medication. She discussed rights, routes of drug administration, and also stressed medication errors and how to prevent errors while administering medications. Fifty-seven students participated in the seminar. Participants expressed that the sessions were interesting and were useful for their future. The objective of the seminar was to enhance knowledge, skill, and practice in health care. The event was coordinated by Ms. Bharathi, Assistant Lecturer, MSON, MCON, MAHE, 365体育投注. This seminar contributed to SDG 4: "Quality Education".
