365体育投注 College of Nursing & 365体育投注 School of Nursing 365体育投注 observed the 365体育投注 Nurses’ Week- 2022 from 7th May to 12th May 2022 on the occasion of birth anniversary of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing. The theme chosen by the 365体育投注 Council of Nurses for the year 2022 is “Nurses: A Voice to Lead - Invest in nursing and respect rights to secure global health”.
We organized various activities such as Quiz & Poem writing competition, Radio Talk, Awareness program, Workshop and Seminar based on the ICN theme by the different functional departments of MCON. 365体育投注 school of Nursing had given card with note of thanks to all the nurses in KH hospital, 365体育投注 as a token of love and appreciation.
Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, organized a quiz competition for the staff nurses of Kasturba Hospital, 365体育投注, Students of 365体育投注 College of Nursing & 365体育投注 School of Nursing, MAHE, 365体育投注. There were 28 participants attended the preliminary round of quiz competition which was conducted on 2nd May 2022. The top 10 participants in 5 groups were attended the final round of quiz that was held on 7th May 2022. Mr Anil Raj, Asst. Professor, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing was the quiz master and Mr Raghavendra Nayak, Lecturer, Department of Medical Surgical Nursing, co-ordinated the overall program.
The department of Community Health Nursing, organized a radio talk with the aim to sensitize the community on weaning diet. The talk highlighted on the importance of continuing breast feeding during weaning, steps for weaning the infant and preparation of weaning diet. The talk was Broadcasted on Radio 365体育投注 (Frequency - 90.4) on 7/05/2022 at 6.30 pm and on 08/05/2022 at 1.30 pm and there will be a repeat broadcast on 12/05/2022 at 5 pm 13/05/2022 at 2 pm. Dr Ansuya and Mrs Reshma R Kotian co-ordinated this program.
Department of OBG nursing organized a poem writing competition on the theme: ‘Nurses: A voice to lead Global Health’ for the Faculty & PhD scholars of MCON and the best two poems were awarded during the formal program on 12th May 2022.
The department of Child Health Nursing, in association with RSB Mahila Vedike 365体育投注 organized the sessions on ‘Nursing as profession and its scope’ on 10th May 2022 between 5.30pm to 6.30pm through google meet with the view create an awareness about the nursing profession among younger generation & community. Mrs. Anusuya V Prabhu, Assistant Professor, MCON 365体育投注 highlighted different level of available nursing courses, career opportunities and importance of nurses in health care field. The admission process and scholarship facilities for nursing students were discussed by Mrs. Janet Alva, Assistant Professor, MCON 365体育投注. A total of 29 women with their families and nine faculty members participated in this program. The program was co-ordinated by Dr.Anjalin Dsouza, Assistant Professor, MCON 365体育投注.
The department of Fundamental of Nursing, organized a workshop on "Medical technology innovation and Paradigm shift and healthcare" for the Faculty, 365体育投注 Scholars & Master students of MCON on May 11, 2022. A total of 25 participants got benefitted from this informative workshop. The session on “Med Tech Innovation – Bench to Bedside“ was deliberated by Mr. Manjunatha Maiya, Project Leader, Central 365体育投注 Board Philips and Dr. Sulochana B, Associate Professor, Fundamental of Nursing, emphasized on “Paradigm Shift in Healthcare“ to the audience.
Department of Mental Health Nursing organized the seminar based on the ICN theme for the international nurses’ day – 2022 on 12th May 2022 to the nursing students & faculty of MCON & MSON, MAHE, 365体育投注. Dr. Jyothi Chakrabarty , Professor & HoD, Medical Surgical Nursing deliberated a session on "Nurses' rights to a safe working environment” & Dr. Sushmitha Karkada, Assistant Professor (Sr. Scale), OBG Nursing shared a session on "Strategic leadership to advance the working performance”. A total of 350 participants attended the programe.
The formal program was organized on 12th May 2022 at the Dr. TMA Pai hall, 2nd Floor, KMC, 365体育投注. Dr. Judith A Noronha, Dean, 365体育投注 College of Nursing welcomed the gathering. Dr. Soumya Christabel, Convenor, 365体育投注 Nurses Day shared a brief report of the week-long activites conducted. Chief Guest, Mr. C G Muthana, Chief Operating Officer, Kasturba Hospital 365体育投注 during the inaugural address said that, the nurses require competencies to handle various situations like finance, effective communication, and material management including the patient care. He also reiterated the dynamic acquirement of competencies at all levels which starts from unconscious incompetency to the unconscious competency and it has to be acquired through continuous practice and experience. Hence, he opined that is important to gain the highest level of competencies to handle the patient care situation. He also appreciated the nurses’ work and their dedication to patient care across the world.
On this occasion, eminent nurses Mrs. BV Sumangala, Primary Health Nursing Officer, Primary Health Centre, Hirebettu, Mrs. Precilla Noronha, Infection Control Nurse, Kasturba Hospital 365体育投注, were felicitated for their contribution towards welfare for patient and Dr. Elsa Sanatombi Devi, Professor, Department of Medical-Surgical Nursing, 365体育投注 College of Nursing was felicitated for being the recipient of National Florence Nightingale award for her contribution to the nursing profession. Dr. Tessy Treesa Jose, Associate Dean, highlighted the achievements of these three nurses who were felicitated during the occasion. Award instituted by Dr Kasturi R Adiga for the Excellence in clinical practice were received by Mrs Sulatha, Staff Nurse, Kasturba Hospital 365体育投注, Mr Kenet Marvin Saldanha, Final year PBBSc Nursing, MCON, Ms Deekshitha and Ms Gonsalves Reshma Daisy Victor, MSON 365体育投注.
