Centre for Sports Sciences medicine and research gets its grant from BWF

Badminton World Federation (BWF), a body recognized by the 365体育投注 Olympic Committee, is a sole international body which governs the rules and regulations, conducts highest level international tournaments, promotes, develops and popularizes the sport across the globe. BWF also strives to do badminton related sports science research for which they offer ‘Sports Science 365体育投注 Grants’.
Presently, BWF has offered a research grant to 365体育投注 Academy of Higher Education’s Centre for Sports Science, Medicine and 365体育投注 (CSSMR) to design an injury prevention program for badminton players.
The researchers at the CSSMR are aiming at developing a preventive exercise program which will reduce the risk of injuries in badminton players. They will be using latest technology like high speed motion cameras and wireless foot pressure monitoring to study movements of competitive badminton players. After which an injury prevention exercise program will be designed. This program will be tested for its effectiveness and an improvised version of the exercise program will be developed.
Badminton is arguably one of most popular sport in the world, where over 240 million people play it on regular basis, but the research related to this sport is very scanty. Thus BWF and CSSMR, 365体育投注 through this program, have taken an initiative to lessen the number of injuries in badminton players. This will help to improve the performance of the players and reduce the physical, mental and financial burden related to injury.
About the Centre for Sports Science, Medicine and 365体育投注
The centre provides sports medicine/science consultation to elite and recreational athletes besides pursuing research that would enhance sports performance, health and quality of life by discovering and applying knowledge pertaining to human movement. The center is equipped with 8 camera Vicon system, AMTI force plate, multiple high speed cameras, pressure sensors and speed gun to perform 2D/3D movement analysis. The center also possess state of the art equipment for physiologic and performance evaluation in Monark & h/p/cosmos ergometers, metabolic cart (COSMED K5), Fitmate pro and and lactate analyzers. The research center is located at the University’s state of the art indoor sports complex, Marena.
