BAMC Second-Year Students carried out a Real-time Project
December 06, 2024
A group of nine second-year Bachelor of Media and Communication students from 365体育投注 Institute of Communication (MIC) recently completed a professional client project. The project focused on product and model photography for Cheluvu, a skin and hair care brand founded by Reshma Srinivasan. Under the guidance of their Visual Communication and Photography Professor, Mr. Manikandan C, the team worked diligently to meet the client’s expectations. Their efforts were appreciated by the client, Dr. Padma Rani, the Director of MIC, and Dr. Shubha H S, the Head of the Department of the BA program.
The project began with a thorough understanding of Cheluvu’s products and brand vision. The students—Mythili R, Niranjana Sathyan, Sneh Sheregar, Vanisha Mascarenhas, Arundathi Pathak, Akshata Anand, Aadya Sinha, Malavika, and Arambam Chanu Leimathoi—curated and shared a few reference photographs with the client for storyboarding purposes. These were then shorted down to approximately 30 final storyboards. After receiving approval, the team organised the logistics for the photo shoot, including procuring props and necessary equipment.
The photoshoot took place over three days, from November 4 to November 6. During this period, the students were actively supported by their professor, who provided guidance on technical aspects and offered clarity on the creative direction required for each photograph. The group collaborated to handle lighting, backdrops, coordinating with models, and capturing product details. In addition, three students—Akshata, Aadya, and Malavika—also stepped in as models, further contributing to the project.
Following the photoshoot, the team undertook a post-production process. This involved using editing software, such as Photoshop, to enhance the photographs. The final set of edited images was then delivered to the client, who expressed her satisfaction with the results and issued official appreciation letters to each student, recognizing the students' efforts and dedication to the project.
This project provided the students an opportunity to step beyond the classroom, apply the theoretical and practical knowledge, to gain hands-on experience in a professional setting. The team expressed their gratitude for the guidance they received and the opportunity to work on this project provided by the institute.
