Dr .Devisha Sasidevan
Assistant Professor (Senior Scale)
Dr. Devisha Sasidevan is an academic working at the intersection of environmental change, natural resource governance, and social equity. Her work focuses on livelihood vulnerabilities shaped by climate uncertainties, water scarcity, and the socio-political construction of resource access. Drawing on extensive fieldwork, her research explores how ecosystems and knowledge systems influence governance at both state and community levels. She has published in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, and her academic presence is reflected in her Scopus (ID: https://orcid.org/0000-0001-5200-2815) and Vidwan (ID: 113725) profiles. Dr. Sasidevan is an active member of academic networks such as Climate-U, which explores higher education’s role in climate action, and G-FORCES (Global Forum on Climate, Environment, and Society), a collective advancing interdisciplinary approaches to climate and sustainability education. Her engagement extends beyond academia to public policy and development practice. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she collaborated with multiple state governments, including Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand, on relief responses for migrant workers. She spearheaded the Let’s Reach Out Kerala initiative with the National Health Mission, Ernakulam, providing emergency aid and support to stranded migrants. Recognised by the UNOHCHR as a global best practice, the project’s second phase led to the establishment of Kerala’s first district-level Inter-State Migrant Workers Office. Dr. Sasidevan currently teaches Sociology of Gender, Urban Sociology, and Project Management, integrating her research with pedagogy to equip students for real-world challenges. Her work bridges theory and practice, with a deep commitment to addressing intersectional issues related to climate justice and social inclusion through research, education, and policy engagement.
